People who can’t afford health insurance don’t go to the doctor when they’re sick and often get sicker.  Poverty has been linked to a higher rate of diabetes, high blood pressure and other illnesses.  And without enough money to pay for housing and other necessities, low-income people often eat cheaper, but unhealthy, processed foods.
