Free and Charitable Clinics and Charitable Pharmacies rely on volunteers to be able to provide needed healthcare to medically underserved people in their communities. The spirit of volunteerism and giving back is a truly rewarding experience, one that is exemplified in clinics throughout the country.
Annually, over 200,000 volunteers help approximately 2 million people through 6 million patient visits receive healthcare at America’s 1,400 Free and Charitable Clinics and Pharmacies.
In 2020, 207,600 people volunteered at Free and Charitable Clinics and Pharmacies, including:
Volunteer Medical Providers
Volunteer Dental Providers
Volunteer Mental Health Providers
Volunteer Pharmacy Providers
Volunteers with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds are needed and welcomed – from non-medical backgrounds to help with administrative and clerical tasks to licensed healthcare professionals.
Volunteer opportunities are available for a wide range of healthcare professionals, including but not limited to:
- Nurse Practitioners
- Physician Assistants
- Mental Health Providers
- Medical, Dental & Nursing Students
- and more!
Other volunteer opportunities can include greeters, patient registration, interpreters, navigators, and more. Often clinics may also have special one-day needs, like garden planting, landscaping, painting, and outreach events. Do you have a special skill such as photography, web development, or marketing and want to donate your time and talents? Contact your local clinic to see if there is an opportunity to volunteer!
