NAFC Executive Director Offers Testimony Before the House Committee on Ways and Means

On Thursday February 14, 2013, the NAFC's Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux Busby will offer testimony before the House Committee on Ways and Means.  Nicole was invited to share with the committee testimony on how the reduction or limitation of the charitable tax deduction will impact the ability of Free and Charitable Clinics to offer health care to the medically underserved throughout the country.

This invitation is not only an honor but also an opportunity to tell the story of Free and Charitable Clinics to a large number of House Representatives, both Republican and Democrat.  The House Committee on Ways and Means does not normally hold hearings and chose the NAFC to testify out of hundreds of other non-profits.

In her testimony, Nicole will stress to the committee the important void that Free and Charitable Clinics fill as members of the safety-net, she will explain that the majority of Free and Charitable Clinics do not bill for services and that they are different from and not Federally Qualified Health Centers. Nicole will also urge the committee to leave the charitable deduction intact because across the country our clinics rely heavily on individual donations and funding from grants and foundations.
