2015 NAFC Charitable Health Care Symposium a Huge Success!

Last week the NAFC held the 2015 NAFC Charitable Health Care Symposium.  This 10th annual meeting of the organization was held at the beautiful Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Palm Springs, California.  This year the meeting had approximately 350 attendees, with 35 states and over 126 clinics from across the country represented!

The theme of this year’s meeting was C.A.R.E. - Communities Are Responding Everyday – which is a perfect description of what our attendees do every day in their communities.

This Charitable Symposium was full of experiences that were aimed to help attendees:

Collaborate with others in the safety net field

Aspire to continue developing the quality of care they provide in their communities

Rejuvenate themselves and their clinics through inspiration and motivation

Explore new ideas, methodologies and models that can be implemented when they returned home

Highlights of the Symposium included two incredible Keynote Sessions.  First, the former Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Regina Benjamin kicked off the symposium, talking about her patient experiences, the importance of health, and even lead a fun dancing session to get everyone on their feet!  The following day, Eileen Howard Boone, President of the CVS Health Foundation, spoke to attendees about the work that CVS and their Foundation are doing with the purpose of “helping people on their path to better health.”  Eileen also spoke about their partnership with the NAFC and the Coordinated Care grant program, inviting 3 past awardees of the grant to join her in talking about the grant, their outcomes and some lessons learned!

The NAFC’s Symposium also included a wide variety of great informational breakout sessions that covered the following areas:

Clinical - Hypertension, Hepatitis C, Pain Management and more…

Affordable Care Act - How clinics around the country are responding to ACA through messaging and changing of delivery models…

Reimagine - NCQA PCMH Certification, Community Partnerships, Hospital Collaborations, Outcomes and more…

Engage – Fundraising and more…
